Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame

Where legendary music, modern exhibition design, and live performance come together in the heart of Birmingham.

The Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame has opened its doors and is back in business. A multi-million-dollar renovation project had been underway at the Carver Theater. But, it is now completed. The Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame is located inside Carver Theater on 4th Avenue North in Birmingham and features a new exhibit about Alabama’s influence on jazz legends like Ella Fitzgerald and John “Fess” Whatley.

The museum celebrates the music and achievements of more than 170 jazz musicians from Alabama—including legends like Nat King Cole, Duke Ellington, and Lionel Hampton—while fostering a deep appreciation for the rich legacy of jazz.  The project improved theatrical lighting, backstage amenities and some improvements to the sound system at Carver Theater. The goal was to give a unique experience for the multitude of events that can now be held at the historic landmark.
